Lingering Wonder

She gives you something that you will have forever

Like a good teacher- the kind you get when you’re young.

She leaves you

With lingering wonder

And a love you’ve only ever read about.

She holds you with her kind eyes

Cradling your head with soft hands

And she is always cold

But you would never know

Because she is always warm

To everything.

She brings you into a new world

With bright green grass and a yellow sun.

There is no moon there

Because not everything can be warm back

But there are clouds

The kind of clouds that look fake.

She has the kind of heart

That you won’t believe is real.

Her love lingers,

It grows but never collects dust

And even in the briefest moments

You can spot her changing both worlds.
